On Sunday, we first visited Bastian Union Church. Basically, we did regular things that we would do in every church. The thing that left a deep impression on me was that everybody was so hospitable. They hugged us, shook our hands, and greeted us. That feeling just like they had already waited for you for a long time. After that, we visited Myra and Randy’s Quilt House in Ceres, Virginia. They made quilts for hospitals and other places for free. You can find how much passion Myra and Randy put in this little tiny quilt house. Every space of it was used to store Myra’s fabric and machines. We spent our whole afternoon helping Myra cut different fabrics and sort them. Randy taught us how to use the long arm for quilting and let us sign on a quilt. The dinner time was the best moment, and I will never forget it. We felt just like family having our dinner together and sharing interesting stories in the crowded but cozy living room. At first I was very surprised why this couple decided to move to this economically disadvantaged place instead of living in convenient Washington, D.C., after they retired. Then I realized this was what exactly Myra and Randy wanted: to keep away from the traffic, noises, and people in the big city, enjoy their life in the quiet town and make beautiful and gorgeous quilts for people who need help.
